A World Without Goodbye
Far beyond Earth’s skies, MOMO lived on a world where nobody had ever grown old. No one had ever said goodbye forever.
The Silver Gardens
Each morning MOMO walked among trees with silver leaves. They whispered when the wind touched them, as though the garden had a thousand stories.
The Question
One evening MOMO looked beyond the hills. ‘Does every world look like ours?’ MOMO asked. Nobody knew.
A Family of Explorers
MOMO’s parents loved questions. They had traveled through oceans of light and mapped the songs of distant stars.
Friends at the Observatory
MOMO’s friends gathered beneath the glass dome. Together they watched a tiny blue spark appear on the star map.
The Blue Spark
‘What lives there?’ asked MOMO. The map offered no answer. And that made MOMO want to know even more.
A Brave Decision
‘I want to visit a new world,’ MOMO told the family. ‘I want to listen before I decide what it is like.’
The Promise
‘Remember where you come from,’ said MOMO’s mother. ‘And remember that every stranger has a story.’
The Traveling Seed
MOMO carried a small glowing seed from home. It would shine whenever MOMO remembered kindness.
Through the Stars
MOMO’s little vessel sailed past rings of ice, quiet moons, and rivers of dust that glittered in the dark.
A Strange Signal
One night, the vessel caught a sound: laughter, music, rain, and a voice calling someone home.
The Blue Planet
The signal came from a blue planet wrapped in clouds. MOMO leaned close to the window. ‘Hello, mystery.’
A Bumpy Landing
The vessel settled softly in a quiet clearing among the woods and lakes near Max’s school. The grass smelled unfamiliar, and the air tasted like rain.
A New Shape of Life
MOMO stepped outside in a shimmering, shifting form. The stars could be seen faintly through MOMO’s skin.
Footsteps in the Grass
A child with a backpack followed the wooded path through a park near his school. His name was Max. He had been looking for a lost kite.
The First Surprise
Max saw MOMO and froze. ‘What are you?’ he whispered. MOMO noticed the fear in his eyes.
A Gentle Hello
‘I am MOMO,’ came a soft voice. ‘I did not mean to frighten you.’ MOMO stayed still and waited.
The Shape of Trust
MOMO’s outline changed slowly. A face appeared, then hands, then the shape of a child with pearl-blue skin and bright amber eyes.
Still MOMO
‘You look a little like me,’ Max said. ‘But not quite.’ ‘I am still MOMO,’ said MOMO. ‘Only the shape has changed.’
The Lost Kite
Max pointed to a kite tangled in a tree. MOMO could have stretched high into the branches, but asked, ‘How would you solve it?’
A Clever Plan
Max found a long fallen branch. Together they freed the kite. ‘You helped me think,’ said Max. MOMO smiled.
A Thousand Questions
Max asked about stars. MOMO asked about puddles. They discovered that knowing different things could make a friendship stronger.
The Word ‘Home’
‘My family is waiting,’ said Max. MOMO wondered why the word waiting made his voice so warm.
A House with Light
Max pointed toward a house with glowing windows, beyond the trees near the lake. ‘My dad Alex, my mom Anna, my brother Mark, and my sister Sophia are there.’
A Different Kind of Family
MOMO thought of home across the stars. Families could look different, but perhaps the feeling of belonging traveled everywhere.
The Clock on the Wall
A bell rang from town. ‘It’s getting late,’ Max said. MOMO tilted their head. ‘What does late mean?’
The Mystery of Time
‘It means we have to hurry,’ said Max. ‘Why?’ asked MOMO. Max laughed. ‘You ask the hardest questions.’
A Word Not Yet Understood
Max mentioned that his grandfather was growing old. MOMO had never heard anyone speak that way before.
A Question for Tomorrow
‘What happens when people get old?’ MOMO asked. Max grew quiet. ‘That’s a big story,’ he said.
The Glowing Seed
The seed from MOMO’s home glimmered as Max led MOMO along the wooded lakeside path toward his family home. MOMO had found something more surprising than a new planet: a friend.
Under One Sky
At Max’s home, his father Alex and mother Anna opened the door. Mark and Sophia peeked out from behind them. MOMO felt nervous, but Max said, ‘This is my friend.’
The Adventure Begins
That night, Max’s family offered MOMO a safe place to stay while they learned about one another. Far away, MOMO’s own family watched the stars. MOMO had found a new home for the beginning of an extraordinary adventure.
